PEDIGREE FRAUD 3 – MASTIFFS dateline May 2006 Mastiffs rescued from puppy mill - aka HVB - aka Commercial Breeder" auction in Missouri. (AKC has invented ever more acceptable terms for puppy mills) Other dogs bought from another auction indicate that AKC registers dogs with more than one sire. Read on... DNA apparently not required when there's two sets of registration papers! aka the Kuvasz Case Pt 1?? See letter to AKC below.
There were 14 puppies in Shyanne of Stonehaven's litter (the
litter she was out of -- not a litter she produced). Eight of
them were registered with AKC, and there is no information about
the remaining 6 puppies as being AKC registered. I don't know
if any of the other registered puppies were brindles, or if she
was the only brindle registered from that litter. I have the
names of the registered dogs, so I could go through the AKC Stud
Register to see if I can find them, and check to see what color
they might be. Judging from their registered names, there is a
possibility 3 (or 4) of them might be in MO puppymills. If you
looked at the pedigrees of the dogs purchased by OEMTF, you will
see that many of pedigrees are VERY similar.
I sent you an e-mail earlier today about a Mastiff bitch purchased from a MO dog auction. I am attaching the letter written by dee dee Andersson, President of the Old English Mastiff Trust Foundation to the AKC (Robert Slay and Steve Robinson). The attachment she refers to in this letter are the e-mail messages between Mrs. Andersson and the AKC when she first contacted them about an supposedly fraudulent pedigree for Shyanne of Stonehaven (sent in my first e-mail to you). I had forgotten about the two puppies I had purchased at another auction -- each of them came with two AKC registration slips, same dam, different sires! If there were other puppies from this litter, and each pup sold with two AKC registration slips, I guess the owner could choose which sire he/she preferred. Another case of fraudulent Stud Register entries! I know the AKC does not approve of breed clubs purchasing/rescuing dogs from dog auctions. Perhaps they don't want us to find out what a slip-shod operation they are running!

Mr. Robert H.
Slay, Dear Sirs, On September 27, 2003, a representative of the Old English Mastiff Trust Foundation (OEMTF) attended the Heartland Sales Dog Auction, Cabool, Missouri. In that capacity the following animal was purchased:
SHYANNE OF
STONEHAVEN
AKC #
WR016204/03
Sire Henry The
Hallowed WP946796/04 Per AKC Certified Pedigree Shyanne’s dam, MISS HANNAH SUE, is a brindle. The pedigree for Miss Hannah Sue is wrong. There is no brindle behind this bitch for four generations. Notwithstanding advances being made in DNA, it is NOT possible in the Mastiff breed for two fawns to produce a brindle. It simply will not happen. Attached is a copy of correspondence between myself and a representative of the AKC. With all due respect, the response from Dr. Edwards (AKC DNA Consultant) is patronizing and condescending, not to mention insulting both to me and to my breed. If the AKC will permit “mutation” to be acceptable criteria to register false puppy mill generated pedigrees, without so much as a cursory inspection, then purebred dog records are going to eventually be called into question and completely lacking in integrity. There is no doubt Shyanne’s pedigree is false because her dam’s pedigree is false. This is very problematic because her descendants will filter out into the Mastiff community and be bred and that will have an adverse affect for owners and breeders of Mastiffs who have heretofore had respect for the integrity of the AKC stud dog records. Some of us try very hard to breed not just a nice Mastiff, but also a totally honest pedigree. I do hope your office(s) will call in these pedigrees and stop this dishonest breeding. As an aside, immediately after acquisition, Shyanne of Stonehaven was spayed. The veterinarian found inside her a badly ruptured uterus, most likely resulting from prolonged, unproductive, hard labor. It is astonishing she lived through it. The vet took photos of dead and decaying puppies, remnants of bone, cartilage, skulls, fur, tissue, etc. found loose in her peritoneal cavity. At another auction, on October 11, 2003, held under the auspices of Southwest Auction Service LLC, OEMTF representatives bought two male Mastiff puppies, Auction Dogs #48 and #49. They may (or may not) be full and/or half litter mates. Breeder & Litter Owner are Kevin Gann & Jeanie Gann, 20616 State Highway 59, Noel, MO 64854-8279. Each puppy was accompanied by TWO registration forms as follows:
Auction
Dog #48
Dam K&J Ginger
WR028103/05 (11-03)
Sire#2
Big Buddy Hightower WP895360/05 (02-03) DNA #V268460
Auction Dog
#49
Sire#1
Sir Brutus of Goliath WP926461/08 (11-03) DNA #V268462
Sire#2
Big Buddy Hightower WP895360/05 (02-03) DNA #V268460 Is this new American Kennel Club policy, i.e. on possible multiple sire litters to provide registration papers for each potential sire? The new owner can just pick the sire of choice? OEMTF is very optimistic a sincere interest will be taken in the problems presented in this letter. Without the AKC strict position on integrity of registrations, all purebred dog breeding will suffer. I further suggest that DNA taken from puppy miller/dog farmer animals will never be more reliable than the breeders of the dogs from whom samples are being collected. Respectfully,
