UNITED KENNEL CLUB hosts the InauguralDog Registry Conference October 4 and 5, 2006
United Kennel Club, in cooperation with other leading dog registries from the world of pure-bred dogs, announces the Inaugural Pure-Bred Dog Registry Conference in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The conference will bring together the country’s most respected and recognized dog registries in an effort to share, learn and explore the future of pure-bred dogs. The initial list of attendees includes numerous all-breed registries as well as several major single-breed organizations, collectively representing millions of dog breeders and owners. Representatives anticipate that the conference will result in better cooperation and communication among the leading organizations in the field of pure-bred dog registration. UKC president Wayne R. Cavanaugh, along with other industry leaders, coordinated the summit in an effort to strengthen relationships among pure-bred dog organizations. “The competition between pure-bred dog registries can at times slip into a pattern of one-upmanship resulting in an environment that overshadows our true pursuit, which should be providing owners and their dogs with opportunities to compete and interact together.” suggests the UKC president. Mr. Cavanaugh went on to further explain, “Our intent in coordinating this conference was to have the leading dog registries meet and discuss our common interests and the unique challenges facing our industry. It’s an opportunity for us to pool our collective knowledge in an effort to ensure a bright future for pure-bred dog registration and events.” Scheduled events will be coordinated to maximize interaction between participating organizations and will begin with a reception on Tuesday evening. Informational presentations and seminars are scheduled for Wednesday. Thursday will feature sessions devoted to establishing plans for future agendas and conferences. The Inaugural Conference will conclude with summary reports presented during a luncheon Thursday afternoon. The summit will be held at the Radisson hotel which is located in downtown Kalamazoo and offers excellent accommodations including fine dining and superior meeting facilities.
