I VOTE ON BEHALF OF MY DOG

Have you noticed the recent onslaught of restrictive animal
legislation? Do you think it is just a strange coincidence or
perhaps a sad commentary on modern society?
Well, think again. With budgets in the millions, animal rights
(AR) organizations have a battle plan to eliminate the ownership of
all animals (something they equate to slavery) by lobbying for
legislation that is designed to be so costly and impossible to
comply with that eventually we will abandon the idea altogether.
This extremist agenda is a hard sell when you consider the
number of households that have pets, not to mention the fact
that our economy is driven by a vast agricultural industry
dependent on animal ownership.
Virtually all biomedical advances of the last century were
achieved through animal research, and although it may be
unpleasant to think about, a cure for cancer or AIDS will not be
possible if groups like the Humane Society of the United States
(HSUS) and People for the ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have their way.
Even the ASPCA appears to be shifting to an animal rights
agenda. The meatless, pet-less, loveless apocalypse of humankind
through starvation and pandemic disease may be on the distant
horizon, but make no mistake, the same animal rights terrorists
who are willing to use violence to achieve their goals are not
above using legislative baby steps to get there through the back
door.

Hire top notch marketing firms and go after soft targets. Dog
fighting in one state, puppy mills in another. After all, who
could possibly object to criminalizing such heinous activity?
Just don't read the fine print please! They plant exaggerated
stories in the media and offer up “experts” to “testify” with
questionable data. They set up gigantic mail rooms to distribute
slick propaganda and solicit donations under the guise of
“helping animals”. (PETA actually kills about 90% of the animals
that it “rescues” and the HSUS doesn't operate a single animal
shelter.)
They cunningly target our impressionable youth with comic books
and websites. They use tax exempt money to impose their radical
beliefs on the rest of us. By creating the appearance of a
crisis or tragedy, and carefully crafting a network of political
contacts, animal rights supporters are eagerly waiting in the
wings to offer a “solution” to the “problem”. Senator So-and-so,
let us help you write a bill to punish the evildoers and you'll
be a hero, they croon. Overburdened politicians are only too
eager to let someone else handle the details, while the citizens
they supposedly represent don't even know how they've been
scammed.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Just ask the
National Animal Interest Alliance. The NAIA has been working for
years to expose the frightening truth about animal rights
organizations. The Center for Consumer Freedom with PETAkillsanimals.com website is spreading the word and they also
track the money trail of these non profit organizations. The
Companion Species Coalition and other animal welfare
organizations would like you to know the truth because animal
rights supporters actually believe that animal welfare is a bad
thing that hinders their movement.
The big kid on the playground is probably the National Rifle
Association (NRA) and some excellent reporting can be found on their
website. Want to keep current on legislative proposals and who's
supporting them? Check out the DogPolitics website because a GPS
microchip in every domestic animal is only one proposal looming
in your not too distant future. Surprisingly, the ACLU has yet
to intervene on behalf of animal owners ‘civil liberties. (But
one of my dogs is black, why won’t they help? Maybe if she were
gay as well...)
This is madness! Surely the voting public isn't really that
complacent. Oh wait, voter turnout isn't exactly at an all time
high and once an overly broad, vague or unconstitutional law is
on the books the only way to challenge it is with litigation.
Animal rights supporters are counting on the fact that “we the
people” will not be able to organize ourselves to fund the
lawsuits. They want to keep us divided and bickering over the
small details so that their legal precedents go unchallenged.
The American Canine Foundation (ACF) has been fighting, and winning
some critical legal battles in this war but the adversary has
had exponentially greater funding. It's time for that to change.
This is an election year. Do you know where your legislators
stand? Have you taken the time to poll them?
Be informed. Register to vote. Tell your representatives where
you stand. Ask them where they stand on topics like breed
specific legislation, pet limit laws, public space bans,
mandatory micro chipping, licensing fees, forced spay and neuter
and pet owner data bases. Keep your PAWS off my pet because
in my house, My Dog Votes. Does yours?
