UNITED KENNEL CLUB, INC. Presents: Michigan Mid-Winter Dog Show

(Pictures from 2006 Show)

This Dog show showcases diverse dogs strutting their stuff to shake off the winter blues.

Kalamazoo, Michigan, November 30, 2006 – Spectators are invited to enjoy one of the most diverse dog events in the country, featuring dog and owner teams from across the country representing many popular breeds as well as rare breeds such as the Tibetan Mastiff, Spanish Water Dog and many more, as the UKC - licensed Metro's Mid Winter Classic Dog Show takes over the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Michigan for three full days of action, January 19-21, 2007. Show times start at 10:00am and continue until 5:00pm each day.

With a great variety of dogs scheduled to compete, spectators can expect to see their favorite breeds strut their stuff during the six Conformation Shows. The event also features the Novi, MI based Rock-N-Roll K-9's team Click the link below (Rock-N-Roll) performing their high-energy relay and obstacle competitions throughout the weekend. This group is always a crowd favorite and great fun to watch.

Performance and ability are featured during the two Dog Sport trials, giving participants a chance to prove their skill in law enforcement, guardianship and service-based work. The weekend's Agility Trials test the dog/owner teams as they run an obstacle course of tunnels, bridges and jumps in the quickest time possible and the featured Flyball competitions are still the fastest dog team sport on earth.

Metro's Mid Winter Classic Dog Show is a family friendly, educational event that allows spectators to get close to the action and interact with dogs and owners. As a Benched Show, dogs entered in the events are also on display for spectators to view up-close. Spectators are encouraged to approach owners in the Bench area to meet the dogs and ask questions of the owners about the characteristics and care of the different dog breeds.

A discount coupon for admission into Metro's Mid Winter Classic is available for spectators to download Click the link below (DE Metro Classic).  Daily adult admission to Metro's Mid Winter Classic is $10.00 and a discounted rate of $7.00 is available for seniors (over 65) & children (6 to 12 years of age); family day passes are available for $25.00. A parking fee of $5.00 also applies. Spectators are asked to not bring their dogs or pets to Metro's Mid Winter Classic as dogs not participating in the event are not allowed into the event arena.

"We support the idea that a dog is an important member of the family and encourage owners to actively develop this relationship through activities and training," notes UKC representative Mark Threlfall. "Metro's Mid Winter Classic Dog Show is a great way to see a variety of dogs and the different activities you and your dog can enjoy together."
