Thank you for the opportunity to answer your three part question.

Why did I testify on behalf of HB 2470, The Oregon Puppy Mill bill? Why not? It is a bill designed to rid the State of Oregon of the cruel, inhumane, unscrupulous individuals who give ALL breeders, as well as the Sport of Purebred Dogs...A BAD NAME! A group that year after year wreaks pain, suffering, and deplorable conditions on thousands upon thousands of innocent, helpless animals! Who, in their right mind would not want to stop this terrible treatment of animals?

And before you come back with, "Well, the breeders fear this - - and they object to that, etc., etc." Let me inform you, that I was also chosen to join the Work Group following the initial hearings, to address any and all concerns of the opposition. This we did in a series of meetings, resulting in the cap on sexually intact dogs being raised from 25 to 50 animals over two years of age. The breeders main concern.

The only breeders in the state with more than 50 are the NOW TARGETED PUPPY MILL BREEDERS!!

Second part of question - Why did I use my credentials as an AKC Judge in my introduction? Why would I not?? After all, I am and have been a Champion of Purebred Dogs for over 50 years, 30 of those as an AKC Judge. I also listed my breeding and showing experience, my past-presidency of the Collie Club of America, past president of Purebred Dog Breeders & Fanciers Association, and board member of the famous Project POOCH at the MacLaren Youth Correctional facility. If you had a resume like that, wouldn't you mention it???

And lastly, why do I support HSUS? Very simply because it is THE MOST EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATION IN THE WORLD at combating animal cruelty, be it on the ice flows with the Harp Seals, in Africa with the Elephants, or in the USA with Wild Horses and Downed Cattle!!! Who can you name that even comes close to the accomplishments of HSUS??

I have heard all the lies about hidden agendas, wanting to abolish all animals including dogs and cats - AND THAT IS JUST WHAT IT IS - HYSTERICAL HYPE!!!

The attached is a great recent article from HSUS magazine ALL ANIMALS. Does this sound like a group trying to rid the world of animals? GET REAL!!
