Breeders Damaged By Animal Rights
Yes, I can vouch for damages done to me by the A.R. groups actions.
For 20 years I used to be able to let my puppy people come to my
home and see for themselves where the dogs lived and how they were
cared for - but now that PETA has the audacity to come pounding
on almost ANY door, strangers are NOT welcome at my house any more.
I have several AKC Champions now, and I can not afford to
reveal our location, which to do so at present, is
considered as a threat to their safety. Are my dogs going to
be stolen from my property and neutered??
I have to meet my puppy people now, instead of being able to
invite them into my home. That has cost me because most
people think (due to Animal Rights dogma) that they are
ENTITLED to do a "home inspection" of the breeder. They are
told that only puppy mills will not allow people to come to
their location...so they shy away. What if it was a PETA
team that was posing as a family and wanting to "visit"? Can
a breeder afford to take that chance?? Once the Animal
Rights folks are in your home, then they can threaten you to
turn over your entire litter or they will make more trouble
for you. What ever happened to "innocent until proven
guilty"?
What if you have small children living in your home? Can you
afford to take the chance of inviting a total stranger into
your house to look at a litter of puppies that you have?
What if the stranger comes back later to rob you, or to try
and molest your kids? Can a breeder afford to do a
background check on every person before allowing them to
enter their domicile? Should a breeder HAVE TO do a
background check on every person who wants to adopt a dog?
No? Then why are potential puppy people being told to
research the BACKGROUND of the person that they are
considering getting a dog from??????
Think about this; when you go to buy a car (and we usually
spend a LOT more money on the purchase of a new car than on
the getting a new dog), do you insist on a HOME INSPECTION
of the dealer?? Or even a dealership inspection of the
dealer? Additionally, does a potential client insist on
inspecting the home of a Veterinarian or a groomer before
doing business with them?? I don't think so! So, why should
breeders be subject to this cultural 'policy' when every
other type of businessperson out there is NOT?
I have all but quit breeding; partially due to the economy
being so bad, partly due to suffering a tragedy in my life
recently, and partially due to the pressures (that I should
not have to put up with...) of the Animal Rights
movement.
