RICHARD L.
BAUER of Ft. Lauderdale FL suffered a heart attack Saturday March
12, 2010 and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital in
Auburn, IN.

Julie Borst Reed, herself a well known Poodle breeder reports "As
a professional handler, Mr. Bauer was very well-known for his talent
in the English Cocker Spaniel and Poodle rings. He began showing
these dogs as a very young man. Mr. Bauer, AKC judge #5800, was
very popular as an accomplished conformation judge in many breeds.
"In 2007 he
judged the Non-Sporting Group at the Westminster KC. He was
approved for: Brittanys, Pointers (German Wirehaired), Retrievers
(Chesapeake Bay), Spaniels (Clumber), Spaniels (English Cocker),
Hound Group,
Boxers, Doberman Pinschers,
Terrier Group, Toy
Group, Non-Sporting Group, Old English Sheepdogs, Pembroke
Welsh Corgis, Shetland Sheepdogs, Best In Show and Misc Breeds.
Richard Bauer is slated to preside at the following dog shows posted
by AKC through October 2010:

Helen Lee James, another well respected AKC judge, sums up his
passing eloquently, "He was a tremendous contributor to our breed
and the sport of dogs over many years involvement, starting when he
was very young.
"I, for one, will miss his infectious smile and his sense of
humor.
We will all miss him very much."
