2011 UKC PREMIER DOG SHOW

United Kennel Club's Premier Dog Show RETURNS to Kalamazoo County Expo Center & Fairgrounds in Michigan!  June 16-19 2011

UNITED KENNEL CLUB "UKC" PREMIER DOG SHOW 2011Kalamazoo, MI – The United Kennel Club (UKC), Inc. PREMIER event will return to the Kalamazoo County Expo Center & Fairground on June 16-19, 2011.

The UKC Premier ™ Dog Show, which began in 1994, is regarded by many as a benchmark event for dog enthusiasts seeking to compete among the best in the world of competitive dog events.

The four-day event is expected to feature thousands of dog entries representing well over 100 breeds. The event has been held annually in Kalamazoo since 2000 – with the exception of last year, when it traveled to Richmond, Indiana.

“We are thrilled to welcome this event back to Kalamazoo,” said David Rachowicz, Kalamazoo County Parks Director. “Audiences look forward to this show each year because of its friendly, family-oriented atmosphere – and, of course, the dogs!”

Premier is considered the ideal forum for UKC to showcase their philosophy of the Total Dog™, in which a dog should not only have the beauty necessary for the traditional show ring but also the ability to perform the functions and duties for which its breed was originally created.” said Wayne Cavanaugh, President of UKC, Inc. "We are delighted that Kalamazoo County has made the commitment to improve and expand the facility. The key to our decision was seeing that the construction is actually underway. The improvements will allow us have the space and features necessary to showcase the variety of events that have made UKC Premier a success."

UNITED KENNEL CLUB "UKC" PREMIER DOG SHOW 2011 - Returns to Kalamazoo County Expo CenterIn addition to being the host site for the 2011 UKC event, the Kalamazoo County Expo Center will be breaking ground this winter on a $3 million dollar expansion project that will include a new 36,000 square foot building among other improvements. The entire project, funded through county accommodation taxes, is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2011.

The additional space and upgrades will allow events like PREMIER to continue to grow. Currently, the Expo Center is home to over 100 national, regional and local events drawing over 250,000 visitors each year.

United Kennel Club representatives are expecting over 5,000 entries from all over the nation and Canada for the June 2011 event. For more information about UKC or any upcoming UKC event, visit www.ukcdogs.com or call (269) 343-9020.
