81st AKC Dog Show, Obedience and Rally Trials
East coast classic! All regular classes plus public education, fun events including a doggie fun area and fashion show, DNA, Micro-chip and Semen collection.
Held at Taylor Farm Park, Calf Pasture Beach Blvd & Canfield Ave., East Norwalk, CT - June 8, 2013
Plan now to attend the annual Greenwich Kennel Club Dog Show, Obedience and Rally trials at Taylor Farm Park in East Norwalk, Connecticut., Saturday, June 8th , rain or shine. Parking including admission is $10 per vehicle.
GKC is pleased to have the Blue Buffalo Company and the Pet Pantry Warehouse both long established local companies that command a major influence in our show area, as major sponsors of this show.
The primary event of the day is the conformation judging with over 1,200 pre-entered dogs starting at 8:30AM and culminating with the Best in Show award at 6PM.
Be certain to come early and watch well trained dogs compete in the AKC Companion events consisting of Obedience and Rally Trial entries. Can you pick out the up and coming winners?
Always a crowd favorite, our puppies have their own challenge for the honor of Best Puppy in Show.
Do you have a doggie diva or like to dress up your dog? Come make your own fashion statement in the K-9 Haute Couture Fashion Show or join the Chic Runway Doggies.
If your dog is more the athletic type or is adventurous we have the Rookie Agility course (1/$5 or 3/$10) where your dog can learn to safely navigate some agility obstacles on leash.
To add to your dog’s fun time, PRS-Air is sponsoring the ever-popular Doggie Fun Zone (Fee $12) which is set up in the southeast corner of the field from Thursday, June 6th , through Sunday, June 9th. This is a very exciting and enthusiastic timed event where dogs chase an elusive lure over, under and through a scaled down obstacle course.
At the Club Tent we have our 18th annual “Meet the Author” feature. The ever popular author Matthew Phillips with his “Psychic Puppy” “Patience” will be available to sell, sign and discuss his newly published book “Everything but Snakes”. This is “a story of an impossibly glamorous, manipulative, sex-obsessed, New York City high-society matron and “Patience”.
The Veterinary Cancer Center in Norwalk is sponsoring a tent and parade to recognize the Miscellaneous and Foundation Stock Service (FSS) breeds in attendance at the show. These are breeds that are currently pending AKC recognition.
Other features include the DAWGS trainers with their dogs, free Dog Show Tours and a DNA Clinic.
Dianne Kittrell, DVM, DACVIM from VCA Vet Referral & Emergency Ctr. in Norwalk will run a Micro-Chip Clinic ($30). The ICSB-MA mobile K-9 Semen Collection Clinic will be on the grounds.
Several Breed Seminars ($15 each) will be presented for judges and other interested individuals. The schedule will be posted at the Superintendent’s Tent..
GKC has vendors in attendance that carry a wide variety of dog- related goods as well as many other items of interest. For your own pleasure several food concessions will be available to round out this day. Please come and plan to enjoy the day.
Your dog is welcome providing it is over six months of age; non-aggressive; healthy and up to date on shots; on a short leash (no retractable allowed); well under control of an adult and does not interfere with the show. If it is a hot day, please leave your dog in the comfort of your home.
The Greenwich Kennel Club promotes responsible dog ownership through education, proper training and breeding programs. The show will be held on June 8, 2013 at Taylor Farm Park in East Norwalk, Connecticut. Judging starts at 8:30AM and will continue throughout the day with Group Competition starting at 3:00PM culminating with Best In Show at 6:00PM, rain or shine. This is an outdoor show with some tenting.
