NAVC VETERINARY NEWS
If you haven’t had your veterinarian check your dog’s mouth lately, consider this an important reminder!
Every dog owner knows that dental care is as important in dogs as it is in humans BUT not enough dogs get raw bones and safe chew sticks that naturally clean teeth.
The North American Veterinary Community announces finalists and their new digital diagnostics products in the sixth annual VMX 2023 Pet Pitch Competition. We see this as useful information for dog owners as well as veterinarians and appreciate receiving it from Macayla Bricarell, NAVC Public Relations Coordinator.
These three finalists presented their new products in the Pet Pitch Competition where they will be seen by thousands of veterinary professionals who attended VMX 2023, the world’s largest and most comprehensive veterinary conference held in Orlando, FL.
NAVC CEO Gene O’Neill says “All of us in the veterinary industry recognize the importance of new innovations” so ask your vet about this!
Three Finalists Chosen were:
GekkoVet International is a digital diagnostic and treatment tool for veterinarians that is based on over 50,000 pages of clinical source material. It helps vets and nurses to make a correct diagnosis and select the correct treatments for the diagnosis faster and more reliably than ever. GekkoVet is a SaaS and can be used with any device with an Internet connection.
OraStripdx, by PDX BIOTECH is a revolutionary rapid test that can detect active periodontal disease in dogs and cats in 10 seconds, with no anesthesia or sedation required. Each easy-to-use test strip changes color based on the concentration of thiols in the patient’s oral fluid. When a veterinarian or technician glides OraStripdx along the gumline of a dog or cat, thiols in the oral fluid will cause the test strip to change color, with the concentration of thiols reflecting periodontal disease activity.
TEEF is a biotechnology company that leverages expertise in microbiology and immunology to create ground-breaking dental technology. Their flagship product, Protektin42™, is a prebiotic water supplement for daily dental hygiene for canines (safe for cats, too). Rather than trying to eliminate all bacteria, its technology starves out dangerous bacteria while strengthening beneficial bacteria.
TEEF For Life was selected as the winner for its ground-breaking dental technology that strengthens good bacteria and weakens harmful bacteria in animals’ mouths.
The judges for the VMX 2023 Pitch Competition WERE:
• Ainsley Bone, DVM, Purina
• Shea Cox, BluePearl Pet Hospice, Veterinary Angel Network (VANE)
• Ira Gordon, VetCelerator, VANE
• Karen Kline, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology), CVA, VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists
