BE KIND TO ANIMALS AND HUMANS
There is so much stress and strain between law enforcement and the public, let’s not add the fire of “animal cruelty” to this powder keg.
Dennis Flye, Media Mgr. February 9, 2026
I was recently sent a video from Fox 13 - Memphis of someone’s dog being kicked by law enforcement (U.S. Marshals and Memphis Safe Task Force) and I wanted to share it with our subscribers. I want to warn you, it’s graphic and hard to watch.

But I also have a message to everyone… Animals (a dog in this case) was doing exactly what a dog would do when strange people and another dog came into its territory. I also want to say, as a dog owner, that if my dog was interfering with an arrest in or at my home, I would put my dog up, or if the dog happened to get out, grab them to keep them safe, not worry about getting cell phone coverage.
This is a great example of two wrongs NOT being right!
Everyone who knows dogs knows that little dogs often think they are the biggest in the room. A Chihuahua can be really growly, snappy aggressive if you get between them and their people, or food, or just being in their doorway! This Schnauzer could have been intimidated by 7 officers and a K-9 unit swarming, as they arrested someone from inside his home. Just as an aside; Jaquize Henderson had a warrant for arrest for drug charges.
From the cell phone video, it looks like an officer kicked the poor little dog twice, once towards the building and once towards the cars because he was barking and carrying on at all the strangers and super excited about all the yelling and excitement. Perhaps the dog perceived the officers and strange dog as a threat and was trying to protect what’s his, like dogs do. There was a lot of noise during the arrest and yelling for someone to get the dog. It’s unfortunate that his other owner (Ella Hollingsworth) didn’t put down the cell phone long enough to get her dog to keep him from being injured, especially after the first kick.
In closing, the dog is the only one who suffered, the hard kicks broke a rib. The dog didn’t know any better but ALL the humans did and should have diffused the situation by making the owner get her Schnauzer before he or any of the officers, including the K-9 police dog, from being injured.
