Dr. Herring was married to the love of his life, the former Cynthia A. "Cindy" Slother, who survives at home. He is also survived by six children, two former spouses and their respective families.
Dr. Herring was a hero to his clients. He was not only our veterinarian he was our “psychologist”, counselor and our best friend. A few years ago Dr. Herring, due to health issues, discontinued practicing at his clinic but to our joy he returned to the practice. Although he was of retirement age Dr. Herring said he had to return to his practice because he, “missed the animals and the people”.
As clients of Dr. Herring for over 30 years, we knew him well. He was an old time veterinarian. He knew the animals he treated.. He cared about his clients. Unlike the younger vets of today Dr. Herring did not need a slew of expensive tests to diagnose your animal. His brilliance, experience and recall could identify problems quickly.
He was there for you at the beginning of your dog’s life and he was there for you at the end. Dr. Herring served others at whatever cost. He was and always will be remembered as a true hero. The Very Best Veterinarian. Friend. His wisdom and kindness will be remembered fondly. He will be missed by those that knew him.
